Petition for Voluntary Annexation: Cady Way (ANX2014-00006)

Summary:
Attached is a petition for the voluntary annexation for a +/-0.0995 ac. portion of recently vacated right-of-way. The undeveloped subject site is generally located north of Josephine Street, south of Beach Boulevard, east of Pinelli Street and west of Old Cheney Highway. The site has no assigned future land use designation or zoning. The conceptual City future land use designation is Residential Low Intensity.

The applicant is requesting annexation to allow the subject site be integrated into the 42 unit single family Cady Way Planned Development.  The subject site is contiguous to the City limits and is reasonably compact. If annexed, the site will not create an enclave.

Pursuant to Section 65.260, addressing expedited annexations, the Chief Administrative Officer has waived the requirements for Technical Review Committee (TRC) and Municipal Planning Board (MPB) review. The initial future land use will processed through the 2014 Winter Cycle of  GMP Amendments and the zoning designation of Planned Development (PD) with the Aircraft Noise (/AN) overlay will be assigned through an administrative process.

The first reading of the annexation ordinance (ANX2014-00006) is also included on the June 23, 2014 City Council Agenda and follows the acceptance of this petition.

Fiscal & Efficiency Data: The fiscal impact statement will be submitted with the annexation ordinance, pending City Council's acceptance of this petition for annexation.

Recommended Action:
Allow the first reading of the annexation ordinance and pursuant to a second reading/hearing and adoption, initiate a Growth Management Plan (GMP) amendment and initial zoning for the subject site.
