Summary:
The Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) is a formula grant that provides funding for local initiatives, technical assistance, training, personnel, equipment, supplies, contractual support and information systems to support law enforcement programs. The City of Orlando Police Department has been allocated $194,185.00 for the FY 2014. OPD plans to use this grant to fund the replacement of approximately 36 of our portable radios. OPD has approximately 264 radios that are 10 years old and the State of Florida Department of Management Services in their Public Safety Radio Communications Plan recommends replacement of radios after 6 years. |

Recommended Action:
Approval of the grant application by City Council and execution of signature memo by Mayor, subject to review by the City Attorney's Office and the Grant Development Supervisor. |
