During the years of 1959 to 1975, United States combat troops were involved in fighting in the Vietnam War. During those years, more than 58,000 Americans lost their lives and more than 300,000 U.S. soldiers were wounded.
Since 2007, both U.S. Congress and U.S. Senate have passed resolutions proclaiming March 30, "National Welcome Home Vietnam Veterans Day."
Mayor Dyer will call upon Dave Arnott (Special Assistant to Orlando Mayor Buddy Dyer and Orlando Police Department SWAT Team Training Coordinator) who provides staff support to the Mayor's Veteran's Advisory Council.
Mayor Dyer will present the proclamation to Michael Waldrop, Chairman of the Mayor's Veterans Advisory Committee and Vinnie Monitto, Treasurer of the Mayor's Veterans Advisory Council and Board Member of Vietnam Veterans of American Chapter 755 Board Member. |
