Summary:
The term held by Mr. Dan Kirby as a Board member of the Orlando Utilities Commission (OUC) was completed effective December 31, 2017. As set forth in the Charter that establishes the OUC, the City’s Nominating Board met on January 22, 2018 and submitted names of three individuals to the OUC Board for consideration of the Commission seat. At its meeting on January 23, 2018, the OUC Board nominated Dr. Larry Mills to fill the vacancy created by Mr. Kirby’s departure with a term of January 24, 2018 to December 31, 2021. Pursuant to the OUC Charter, the City Council shall elect or reject the Orlando Utilities Commission nominee.
Dr. Larry Mills is the Pastor of Mt. Sinai Missionary Baptist Church in Orlando, Florida. Under the administration of Dr. Mills the church has grown and undergone three building phases. Dr. Mills retired in 2007, after 23 years with Lockheed Martin Corporation, in which he served as Corporate Vice President of Human Resources and Business Conduct for Corporate Operations. During his tenure he received numerous managerial and leadership awards.
Dr. Larry Mills attended Wayne State University, University of Phoenix and Bethany
Theological Seminary. He currently holds an undergraduate degree in Organizational Management and Religious Education, a Masters degree in Organizational Management and a Doctorate in Sacred Theology. |
