Award of FY 2016 Central Florida High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) Grant

Summary:

The City of Orlando has been approved and a grant has been awarded in the amount of $109,472.00 from the FY 2016 High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) Program. These funds will be used to support initiatives designed to implement the Strategy proposed by the Executive Board of the Central Florida HIDTA and approved by the Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP).

Specifically, the funds will be used for overtime, vehicle leases and equipment rental for OPD officers assigned to the Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team, DEA Heroin Task Force and the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation.

Recommended Action:
Approval by City Council and execution by the Mayor of the FY 2016 High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) Program Grant, subject to review by the City Attorney's Office and the Grant Development Division.
