Summary:
The attached Property Exchange Agreement between the City of Orlando and Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) will facilitate OCPS plans to construct a kindergarten through eighth grade (K-8) school at Lake Como Elementary without harm to the City's ownership or current uses of property at Lake Como Elementary.
At the same time, the Agreement will address access and parking concerns of residents and business owners along the section of Corrine Drive that abuts Audubon Elementary School.
The Agreement achieves these objectives by:
-Swapping approximately 3 acres of City-owned property at Lake Como Elementary for an equal-sized piece of property, also at Lake Como Elementary, in order to align City uses of property with City ownership, and OCPS uses of property with OCPS ownership.
-Temporarily suspending the existing City/OCPS Joint Use Agreement governing Lake Como Elementary School while the K-8 school is under construction, to be replaced by an equivalent agreement when the K-8 school opens.
-Ensuring that OCPS rebuilds the existing softball field at Lake Como Elementary in a manner and location suitable to the City.
-OCPS will give the City, at no cost, a strip of property that lies between Audubon Elementary School and the businesses that abut Audubon Elementary to the north (between Audubon Elementary and Corrine Drive), to relieve traffic flow, parking and garbage collection issues that the City has identified in the area.
