Contracts to Employ Quasi-Judicial Hearing Officers

Summary:
Pursuant to Chapter 2, City Code, the City must employ hearing officers to conduct quasi-judicial hearings. The following four hearing officer's are recommended by staff to continue to serve as City hearing officers:
 
Susan Johnson-Velez
Derek A. Schroth
Frederick T. Reeves
Robert A. Ginsburg

Each of these individuals is an attorney with at least 15 years of legal experience and particular expertise in local government and land use law and at least 3 years of legal experience as the City's hearing officer's. The current contracts with the hearing officer's terminate on April 1, 2016. The hourly rate of contracting the hearing officers is $140.00, plus travel and other direct expenses, when and if needed.

Recommended Action:
Approval of the attached contracts with each of the four hearing officer's and authorization for the Mayor to execute same.
