Ordinance No. 2015-67, Relating to the Creation of New Special Sign Districts for Highway Digital Signs and Related Regulations (Economic Development)

Summary:

This proposed Land Development Code amendment adds a new section, 64.401, to the Sign Code to create a Highway Digital Sign District with two subdistricts.  Such signs are allowed along limited access roadways adjacent to an eligible activity center, allowing on-site messages from the activity center.  Additional rules provide for architectural enhancement of such signs, limits on copy elements, lighting, location and other requirements.

This item was recommended for approval by the Municipal Planning Board at its August 18, 2015 meeting and accepted by the City Council on September 21, 2015.  First Reading occurred on December 7, 2015.

Recommended Action:
Adopt of the attached ordinance number 2015-67 and authorize the Mayor and City Clerk or Mayor Pro Tempore and City Clerk to execute on behalf of City upon final review and approval by the City Attorney.
