Summary:
Orlando City SC, the Central Florida Sports Commission, and Orlando Venues worked in partnership to bring the Copa America Centenario tournament to the Orlando Citrus Bowl. Orlando will host three or four Copa America Soccer matches. This agreement contains the deal terms between U.S. Soccer and the City of Orlando including the use fee, food and beverage split and merchandise split.
The tournament will be played in June 2016 and will mark the 100-year anniversary of the lively South American tournament and the first time that the tournament has been played outside of South American borders. This special edition of the tournament will feature an expanded field of 16 teams, up from the usual 12, with teams from both CONMEBOL (the South American soccer federation) an CONCACAF (the North and Central America and the Caribbean soccer confederation). The Orlando Citrus Bowl is one of only 10 venues to host the Copa America games. The tournament is expected to draw approximately 40,000 room nights and projected to yield $30 million in economic impact to the local community. |
