Summary:
This item is for approval of agreements between the City, the Downtown South Neighborhood Improvement District (DSNID), and four private property owners within the DSNID, to allow for the transplanting of large date palms from the I-4 corridor. The palms are slated for demolition in conjunction with the Ultimate I-4 project. The Florida Department of Transportation has given the City the opportunity to relocate palms prior to demolition. The City has identified sites within the DSNID wherein the palms may be relocated. This agreement will allow City staff and the contractor to work on the private property sites; the trees are placed on private property to be nearby the roadway as "street trees", as there is no parkstrip. The DSNID Advisory Board recommended approval of the agreements at their meeting on March 11, 2015 (a separate action on today's agenda accepts that recommendation).
The sites are:
- Iberia Bank, 918 S. Orange Avenue, (formerly Old Florida Bank);
- Purdy Site, 1503 S. Orange Avenue;
- Pulse Club, 1912 S. Orange Avenue;
- BB&T Bank, 2703 S. Orange Avenue.
