Summary:
Hebni Nutrition Consultants, Inc. operates a Fresh Stop Mobile Market bus that makes scheduled stops at locations considered to be “food deserts.” A food desert is generally defined as an urban area where it is difficult to find and purchase affordable or good-quality fresh food.
By bringing the Fresh Stop Mobile Market bus to food deserts in the City, Hebni will increase residents' access and ability to purchase fresh produce. The result is expected to be improved nutrition and health among City residents.
This Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) allows Hebni Nutrition Consultants to park the Fresh Stop Mobile Market bus in the parking lots of three designated City community centers: the Dr. J.B. Callahan Neighborhood Center, the John H. Jackson Community Center, Northwest Community Center and the L. Claudia Allen Senior Center, during specified days and hours.
Hebni will provide the Families, Parks and Recreation Department a schedule of dates and times when the bus will be located at these sites, and will also provide all staff and resources needed to operate the program. |
