Subject:
Amendment to Continuing Geotechnical Engineering and Materials Testing Contracts

Summary:
On October 1, 2012 Council approved continuing contracts with five professional services firms providing Geotechnical and Materials Testing Services for a period of two years with an option to extend the agreements for one additional year.  All five firms were approved for the additional year which will expire in October, 2015.  The current authorization from October 1, 2012 states "Cumulative authorizations for each firm will not exceed $200,000 per year."  Staff is requesting changing this statement to say "Authorize the Public Works Director or designee to execute Service Authorizations less than $200,000".  These authorizations are approved within existing project and department budgets and do not require council approval for individual requests.

Fiscal & Efficiency Data: The services that will be performed through this agreement will be utilized in various established projects and department budgets.  The engineering contracts are utilized on an "as-needed" basis.

Recommended Action:
Approve and authorize the Mayor and City Clerk or Mayor Pro Tempore and City Clerk to execute contract amendments for the five Continuing Geotechnical Engineering and Materials Testing agreements as set forth above, subject to review and approval of the City Attorney's Office.
