Summary:
The Orlando Magic request a Temporary Use permit for the following installations:
1. Temporary Interactive Display. To build community excitement for the new basketball season, we would like to install a large temporary MAGIC interactive structure in a variety of locations where Central Florida residents would be able to take photos as the letter ‘I’ in the structure as well as have the opportunity to win prizes and interact with Orlando Magic talent. The proposed structure weighs approximately 1,000 pounds and is 6.5’ tall x 28’ wide x 4’ deep. The attached word document shows the design as well as a photo of the preferred Lake Eola location. The locations below outline the proposed plan of locations within the City of Orlando. We are requesting a Temporary Use Permit that would be for an initial period of two years, with a one-year administrative extension possible allowing up to a maximum of three years. We are currently working with structural engineers to ensure that the structure would meet wind load requirements.
Structure Installation Dates and Locations:
September 24 – October 25: Lake Eola Park
October 28: Wall Street Plaza
October 29 – June 2017: Amway Center Plaza (Corner of Church Street & Division Avenue)
The attached Artwork Installation Agreement details the contractual terms of this temporary use including insurance and repairs.
2. Bridge Decal. Similar to the decals we placed on Amway Center for the 25th Anniversary last season, we would like to install a "Pure Magic" decal on the east face of the bridge between the Geico Garage and Amway Center (no decal would be installed on the west face). The attached PDF shows the design and placement of the decal. Installation dates would be September 25, 2014 through June 2015. |
