Summary:
The Technology Management Division and Procurement and Contracts Division are requesting approval to purchase and standardize Getac rugged mobile and tablet computers from PCN Strategies for the continuing support of OPD, OFD, Code Enforcement and Permitting Services. The age of the current laptops and inconsistency of standard specifications are an issue.
On March 28, 2011, City Council approved the purchase of 492 units of Getac B300 rugged mobile computers from PCN Strategies. Technology Management Division evaluated and thoroughly tested these units prior to the initial purchase in 2011 and during the last three (3) years while in use. The Getac computers have proven to be extremely reliable.
Technology Management Division is now requesting approval to purchase 85 Getac rugged mobile computers for OFD in the amount of $341,915.00 and 32 Getac rugged mobile computers for Permitting in the amount of $136,674.00 from PCN Strategies as a negotiated procurement. In addition, approval is requested to standardize Getac rugged mobile computers.
