In February, Mayor Dyer was selected to receive the prestigious 2014 Local Leadership Award by Voices for National Service. This Local Leadership Award is presented annually to two Mayors who support and encourage national service programs in their cities. The City of Orlando's commitment and dedication to Orlando Cares, O-PASS, City Year Orlando, Public Allies, RSVP, Foster Grandparents, Together for Tomorrow and other service programs make this recognition possible. Mayor Dyer believes in national service as a part of the solution to local challenges and he has a dedicated staff and community partners who embrace national service. Marcia Hope Goodwin, Chief Service Officer, will introduce Jennifer Ney, Managing Director for Voices for National Service, who will explain the significance of the award before presenting it to Mayor Dyer and taking a photo with local national service members and supporters.
