Award of FY 2014 Central Florida High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) Grant

Summary:
The City of Orlando received approval for a FY 2014 grant from the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) Program in the amount of $99,524.00.  These funds will be used to support the initiatives designed to implement the strategy proposed by the Executive Board of the Central Florida High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas.  Specifically, the funds will be used for overtime, vehicle leases and equipment rental for OPD officers assigned to the Fugitive Apprehension Strike Team, DEA Heroin Task Force and the Metropolitan Bureau of Investigation.

Recommended Action:
Approval by City Council and ratification of the execution by the Mayor of the 2014 High Intensity Drug Trafficking Areas (HIDTA) Program Grant Agreement, subject to review by the City Attorney's Office and the Grant Development Supervisor.
