2014 Byrne Criminal Justice Innovation Program Grant

Summary:
The U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) grant is designed to enhance safety and security in targeted neighborhoods by addressing specific crime problems through a cross-sector partnership consisting of law enforcement, community leaders and a research partner.
 
This grant will provide resources to OPD to work within the cross-sector partnership to accomplish the following:  1.  Identify a neighborhood with a concentration of crime hot spots and engage community residents as partners to implement the goals of safety and security through neighborhood revitalization; 2.  Develop proposed strategies to be implemented in the target neighborhoods; and 3.  Agency overtime as necessary to complete all necessary tasks associated with meeting the goals and objectives of this Grant which includes, but is not limited to reducing crime in targeted neighborhoods and enhancing safety and security within those neighborhoods.

Not required at this time.

Recommended Action:
Approval by City Council to submit the Application, subject to review and approval by the City Attorney's Office and the Grants Development Supervisor.
