Summary:
In 2007, City Council approved the establishment of The Orlando Main Street Program ("OMS") to revitalize Orlando's neighborhood business districts. Main Street is a national program which operates under the National Main Street Center. The program assists business districts with developing the necessary market niche and creating a cohesive visual identity unique to the district. The Main Street Approach gradually builds on existing resources and fosters improved community leadership and support on behalf of the business district for the long term. All Coordinating Programs are required to have a licensing agreement with the Center in order to continue their respective Main Street programs. This agreement provides standards and criteria for Coordinating Programs, protects the trademark and branding of the Main Street name, and provides OMS with support, training, and benefits.
Staff recommends approval of the National Main Street Trademark License Agreement and the Main Street Coordinating Program Membership Agreement.
