Application for the 2014 U.S. Department (DOJ), Office of Justice Programs (OJP), Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA) Intellectual Property Enforcement Program: Protecting Public Health, Safety and the Economy from Counterfeit Goods and Product Piracy

Summary:
The Intellectual Property Enforcement Program is designed to provide funding to address intellectual property criminal enforcement, including prosecution, prevention, training and technical assistance.  OPD is requesting funding in the approximate amount of $200,000.00.  The grant will assist OPD in enforcing criminal laws related to intellectual property theft, including reimbursement of expenses incurred in performing criminal enforcement operations, such as overtime payments and storage fees for seized evidence.

Recommended Action:
Approval by City Council of the 2014 The Intellectual Property Enforcement Program:  Protecting Public Health, Safety, and the Economy from Counterfeit Goods and Product Piracy Grant Application, subject to review and approval by the City Attorney's Office and the Grants Development Supervisor.
