Summary:
The Orlando Police Department desires to purchase radar speed display trailers which are placed along roads to minor and display each driver's speed. Laser speed measurement devices are another effective way to deter speeding and enforce speed limits. The current laser devices are approximately 10 years old and need to be replaced.
This grant will provide funding to enhance OPD's ability to enforce speed limits. The grant, in the amount of $80,000.00, will be used to purchase radar speed display trailers and laser speed measurement devices to assist with speed enforcement.

Recommended Action:
Approval by City Council of the FY 2015 FDOT Highway Safety Grant-Concept Paper for Speed Control, subject to review and approval by the City Attorney's Office and the Grants Development Supervisor.
