Ordinance No. 2013-80 amending Section 62.408 in Chapter 62, Part 4: Specially Planned Areas to include the Semoran Gateway Special Plan (/SP) Overlay District, and adding the /SP zoning overlay designation to properties within the Semoran Boulevard corridor from Curry Ford Road south to the Beachline Expressway (SR 528) (Economic Development).
Summary:

The attached ordinance will amend the Orlando Land Development Code to include the Semoran Gateway Special Plan overlay district, and will add the /SP zoning overlay designation to properties within the Semoran Boulevard corridor from Curry Ford Road south to the Beachline Expressway (SR 528). The Semoran Gateway Business District is an important gateway into Orlando for its residents for many visitors new to our region.  The proposed overlay district generally extends the use restrictions of the Semoran Boulevard /SP overlay district located just north of this area, all the way to Orlando International Airport.

The Municipal Planning Board recommended approval of the proposed /SP Overlay District (LDC2013-00289) on October 15, 2013. The MPB also recommended approval of a zoning map amendment to add the /SP district to properties within the Semoran Boulevard corridor from Curry Ford Road south to the Beachline Expressway (ZON2011-00016). The City Council approved the SP Overlay District on its first reading on January 27, 2014.

Recommended Action:
Adopt the attached Ordinance No. 2013-80 and authorize the Mayor and City Clerk or Mayor Pro Tempore and City Clerk to execute on behalf of the City upon final review and approval by the City Attorney.
