Project DTO – Advancing Downtown Service Authorization
Summary:
      The current Downtown Orlando Community Redevelopment Area Plan, the Downtown Outlook, was adopted in 2000 and amended in 2003, 2007, 2010 and 2014. The Downtown Orlando Community Redevelopment Agency staff believes that a new and refreshed look at the future of Downtown Orlando is needed in order to facilitate the next steps in its evolution. Project DTO – Advancing Downtown is a process to engage the community in envisioning the future of Orlando’s core, and determining a roadmap to achieving the Downtown Orlando of the future. The project will include a visioning element with significant public engagement, which will result in recommendations for a refreshed marketing and branding strategy, as well as a comprehensive re-write of the Downtown Orlando Community Redevelopment Area Plan. The goals of this plan will be to position Downtown Orlando as an innovative, progressive Downtown that will encourage business development and attract a highly skilled and diverse workforce; provide a foundation upon which the Downtown Orlando brand can be elevated; and improve the livability of Downtown.
 
On On January 22, 2014, the CRA Advisory Board recommended authorization of the Chief Procurement Officer to enter into a Service Authorization with Renaissance Planning Group, under its continuing services contract with the City.

Recommended Action:
Authorize the Chief Procurement Officer to negotiate and enter into a Service Authorization under the continuing services contract with the City for the CRA to utilize the services of Renaissance Planning Group to create a vision plan and comprehensive re-write of the Downtown Orlando Community Redevelopment Agency Plan for an amount not to exceed $600,000.
